Charles almost startled again at the question, only just then registering Edwin's presence, though that shouldn't have been a surprise to him either. He opened his mouth to say something, only to close it again, brow furrowing as he unfolded from that crouch, slow, a little disjointed and finally managing a quiet, "I don't know?"
He hadn't meant it as a question, not really, still unexpectedly shaken, and confused by the fact that he was shaken when there was no clear reason for it, "I... might have been dreaming?" That one was almost meant as a question, because Edwin had been a ghost longer than he had, but more than that, had squirreled away all sorts of arcane knowledge that Charles only knew the edges of, so while he hadn't heard of ghosts being able to dream, Edwin might have.
