If Edwin was brutally honest, which he kind of was, he liked when Charles took a nap. It gave him time to think. For just a little while that ball of energy stopped and was silent. And it was good. Thankfully, Edwin never needed to rest like that; partly because ghosts don't nap, and partly because the last time he slept he was sacrificed to a demon. So. That was a bit hard to get over. So he used this time to study or do something that required a bit more focus than usual.
This time too, he was back by their bookcase, flipping through one of the older tomes of their collection. And he almost dropped it when he heard a growl, just before Charles rolled off the couch as if he sensed danger. Sensed in the most animalistic way possible.
Edwin turned to look at him, fully expecting his form to be changed... Which was a strange thought to have. But not an unreasonable one, Edwin admitted to himself. He had his suspicions and he tried to ignore them for all these years but their little trip to Port Townsend didn't help about it.
"Charles, is everything alright?" Edwin asked, still not moving from his spot. And he hated it. Because why was he suddenly afraid?
